Scientific activity
The Quantronics group develops quantum electrical circuits: magnetic charges and fluxes behave like quantum conjugate variables, like position and momentum in quantum mechanics. The circuits are manufactured using superconductors, and measured at very low temperatures.
Our experiments range from understanding the Josephson effect in circuits, to quantum manipulation of single spins, understanding supercurrent through semiconductor weak links, development of microwave photon counters, ultra-sensitive magnetic resonance, emission of non-classical photons by Josephson junctions, or fabrication of circuits with topological properties, to name just a few recent activities.

Figure: (a) Semiconductor nanowire (InAs, green) covered with superconductor (Aluminium, blue), and placed at the end of a superconducting resonator shown in (b). The supercurrent through the wire depends on the spin of a single electron trapped in the semiconductor region.
