Scientific activity

The QITE Trapped Ions team develops and utilizes the experimental platform for laser-cooled trapped ions. In particular, the team’s efforts focus on integrating these devices on chips and applying them to quantum information. This research, closely linked to technological developments in cleanrooms, aims to improve the miniaturization of traps, study new geometries (such as ring traps), and integrate photonic components for ion addressing. This platform also serves as the basis for a quantum interface between ions and telecom photons. The miniature surface traps are also used to trap different species within the same device and study sympathetic cooling with a view to quantum logic spectroscopy.
