Scientific activity

Our projects cover two main aspects of the physics of cold gases and atomic Bose-Einstein condensates. The first concerns fundamental properties, such as phase coherence, correlations and multimode aspects at finite temperature. The second concerns the use of Bose-Einstein condensates and cold gases to create non-classical states of the atomic field that can be useful in metrology (compressed spin states), for probing the boundaries between the quantum and classical worlds (Schrödinger cats) and for quantum information.
