Scientific activity
The activities of the SUPRA team at the Albert Fert Laboratory are structured around several lines of research: quantum sensors and superconducting devices for information technology, signal processing and medical imaging, as well as the study of unconventional superconductors and new superconducting hybrid systems.
Work on hybrid artificial structures (heterostructures, junctions), in which superconductors are combined with other types of materials (ordinary metals, ferroics, Dirac materials such as graphene, conventional semiconductors), seeks to understand proximity effects, confinement and interactions at interfaces. The ultimate goal is to master and exploit these interactions to develop new applications and quantum devices. This upstream activity thus enriches a major and historic area of activity within the team and the laboratory, namely the development of quantum technologies based on high-temperature superconductors, notably for superconducting electronics, signal processing (quantum antennas), or quantum sensors for medical imaging.
