Scientific activity

The LPTMC’s Quantum States of Matter cluster focuses on various condensed matter topics: topological order, anyons, spin liquid, superconductivity, quantum fluids, entanglement and quantum information, topological quantum computation, etc. The common denominator of these various fields is the characterization of quantum phases of matter and the transitions between them. These topics are the subject of theoretical work based on a broad spectrum of analytical techniques (renormalization groups, perturbative developments, conformal theories, bosonization) and numerical techniques (exact diagonalization, classical and quantum Monte Carlo simulations, variational methods, tensor networks).
