Scientific activity

Our group studies the physics of ultra-cold Fermi gases in a regime where interactions and fermionic statistics give rise to strong correlations between particles. At low temperatures, the collective behavior of these interacting particles leads to spectacular effects such as superfluidity, the neutral particle analog of superconductivity. While strongly correlated Fermi systems are ubiquitous in nature and modern materials, they are notoriously difficult to tackle theoretically. Our experiments act as quantum simulators where precision measurements of static and dynamic properties are accessible.
