GALAXIES

Scientific activity

The GALAXIES light line is dedicated to inelastic X-ray scattering (IXS) and high-energy photoemission (HAXPES). These spectroscopic techniques are powerful probes of the electronic or magnetic properties of materials. The light line is optimized to work in the energy range from 2.3 to 12 keV, with excellent resolution and a micro-focused beam. Scientific topics addressed on the GALAXIES line in the field of quantum materials include correlated systems, 2D materials, superconductors, oxide heterostructures, magnetic systems, behavior under extreme conditions (high pressure) observed from the point of view of high-resolution X-ray spectroscopy.
